Designed to help in localizing software
and document content, the ENLASO Localization Tools were developed
by Yves Savourel, an expert in SGML and XML localization issues.
Also see Savourel's book, XML
Internationalization and Localization, for further information
about language tools. The ENLASO Localization Tools suite includes
three Windows-based tools: Rainbow,
Album,
and Horizon. The
version 4 of Rainbow and
Olifant, a TM editor, are also
available.
Oct-2005: The ENLASO Localization
Tools are being ported to the Okapi Framework, an open-source
project that provides interface specifications, format
definitions, components and applications to build interoperable
processes for the the localization process. See
okapi.sourceforge.net
for more information and for downloading the Okapi tools.
Feb-2006: Read what
Common Sense Advisory has to say about this initiative.

Rainbow 4
Rainbow 4 is the new
version of Rainbow. This .NET application is
designed to work with modular filters and
utilities. It offers filters that were not in
the previous version (such as the RC Filter, or
the Script Filter based on regular expressions),
as well as new utilities like the Text Update,
or the Text Rewriting. Both Rainbow 3 and 4 can
cohabite and even run at the same time. |

|
Rainbow 3
The Rainbow utilities
allow the user to prepare files in various
formats (HTML, XHTML, Scripts, Photoshop, etc.)
for a given translation environment, convert a
file from one encoding to another, and convert
from one type of line break to another. Rainbow
provides a user-friendly and quick-to-learn
interface, which is common to all ENLASO
Localization Tools utilities. From Rainbow's
main window, the user simply selects an input
file, chooses the utility to run, sets the
options, and then successfully executes. |

Album
Album is a utility that
enhances and corrects the Windows Clipboard
so that it can be used with non-system code
sets that, in some configurations, Clipboard
corrupts without the intervention of Album.
Album also allows Unicode characters to be entered
by their code and permits a URL to be converted
to an internationalized URL that supports extended
characters.

Horizon
Horizon is a simple
Windows application that works with files created
using Rainbow's Prepare for Translation utility.
Horizon allows translators to easily navigate
through the directory structure of the files
they received for translation and compare Source
and Translated documents.
