Lexikon™ Glossary Management Solution
In competitive global environments
that encompass ever-splintering strategic business units
and distribution channels, the costs associated with ineffective
terminology management systems have become the crux of success
and failure. Terminology databases (glossaries) ensure greater
consistency in documentation and minimize the risks of miscommunications
that yield customer dissatisfaction and product liabilities.
Leveraged successfully across all corresponding Web sites,
software products, and marketing communications, a strategic
terminology management system reduces localization costs,
improves product quality, and expedites time-to-market.

Addressing the long-term language needs
of clients operating in global business environments, ENLASO
proudly presents Lexikon, a highly customizable glossary
management tool that enables enterprises to manage their
terminology effectively and automate their internal glossary
management processes.
Recognizing that glossary management
is a discipline that involves the entire product development
lifecycle, ENLASO Corporation has developed a process-driven
enterprise terminology management system. Lexikon empowers
users of all levels to successfully create, manage and publish
rich glossaries in a single database. With highly intuitive
workflow automation, end-users are relieved of the burden
of keeping a glossary up to date and can concentrate on
terminology — rather than on glossary management.
As a database-driven Web application,
Lexikon transcends the limitations of traditionally "flat"
spreadsheet files allowing unprecedented freedom to add,
update, and access terminology in real-time. Lexikon is
completely Unicode-compliant and dynamically hosts any language
combination, including bi-directional and double-byte character
sets.
In addition, Lexikon allows for hierarchical
terminology storage, thus allowing multiple subcategories
to co-exist within a master glossary. This empowers customers
with diverse business units, product lines, contexts, and
end-users to manage a truly enterprise term base with the
sensitivity of local control.
Lexikon Manages Glossary Version
Control
As Lexikon is a real-time Web-based
application, global users always access the most current
glossary version. Traditional version control challenges
are eliminated by serving all glossary terms in a single
database, accessed by everyone on the project team.
Lexikon Automates Project
Communications
Lexikon automates critical process
communications with a server-generated email notification
system. Based on assigned project roles and user privileges,
contributors, reviewers, linguists, vendors and other key
stakeholders in the glossary creation and maintenance process
receive information as their contributions are required.
Lexikon Resolves Issues at
the Content Creation Stage: Term Voting Interface
By allowing key stakeholders to
put new terms up for a vote for other interested parties,
Lexikon can eliminate any miscommunication as to how a term
is branded, perceived and ultimately translated.
Lexikon Embeds Terms with
Contextual Support
As quality language translation
is not simply a word-for-word conversion, neither is the
effective populating of a quality glossary database. Lexikon
complements term entries with form entry fields that support
deeper contextual information needs with descriptive data.
Terminology can also be sorted by subcategories, further
enhancing an end-users ability to choose the right term
for the right situation.
Users Can View Glossaries
in HTML
Lexikon allows users to view the
glossaries and glossary terms in an HTML format —
in any language. Lexikon's HTML preview allows users to
easily reference and compare terms — across languages,
in a WYSIWYG display with all corresponding contextual information.
Lexikon Advanced Search Functions
Lexikon features sophisticated glossary
search functions that provide users with direct access to
local and remote glossary data, during both content development
and translation stages. Users match glossary terms based
upon word stems using advanced algorithms.
Lexikon Seamlessly Integrates
Other Applications
Lexikon can be easily integrated
and customized at the (a) user interface level, (b) the
API level, and (c) the import/export level. Existing terminology
data held in publishing environments, spreadsheets, databases,
and other formats can all be imported into Lexikon with
no data loss. Lexikon can reciprocally export glossaries
into standard file formats, such as tab-delimited text files
(.txt) and comma-separated value files (.csv), Microsoft
Excel (.xls), HTML, DXLT (XML standard), etc.
Lexikon FrameMaker® Plug-in
A testament of Lexikon's integration
capabilities into content creation and editing environments
is a plug-in that interfaces with Adobe® FrameMaker®
for the PC. This plug-in provides users with direct access
to local or remote glossaries from within the FrameMaker
editing environment.
Lexikon Facilitates Industry
Standard Localization Processes
Lexikon is the product of a process-driven
enterprise localization solution. Based on industry accepted
quality localization best practices (determined by Localization
Industry Standards Association), Lexikon clearly defines
and enforces roles and responsibilities among end-users.
Implementing Lexikon Into
Product Development Environments
Glossary management systems are
only as valuable as the quality of data that is leveraged
from them — across the entire client enterprise. Therefore,
as part of ENLASO’s mission to provide customers with
efficient and streamlined localization processes, Lexikon's
customizable glossary management solution is ensured in
ENLASO's experienced implementation and training process.
