Webinar Recording:

Incorporating Multilingual Glossaries into Localization Systems

Date presented: 6/12/01
Cost: Complimentary
Duration: 1 Hour
Format: WebEx Recording

Webinar description

Glossaries insure the health of your localization investment and prevent some nasty disorders from ever occurring, however many companies fail to understand the importance of a glossary to a localization project. Faced with the indecipherable complexity of a project's pricing matrix, the additional costs associated with creating a glossary may appear extraneous. But this misunderstood procedure is the cornerstone to achieving high-quality translations, lower long term costs, and faster time-to-market, while developing subsidiary buy-in, and in some cases, effective vendor management.

Part of ENLASO's educational webinar series, the online presentation is designed for professionals who are responsible for the planning and execution of multilingual product development. Localization expert Liesl Leary explores practical glossary management practices that can be incorporated into localization processes to reduce project costs and time-to-market, while strengthening product quality and global enterprise communications.

A controlled language approach controls the design of the English text for two types of users: persons who read translations of English and persons who use English as a second language.

  • Traditional Systems vs. New Technologies
  • Implementing a Glossary Management System
  • Developing Subsidiary Buy-in
  • Ensuring All Vendors Use the Same Glossary
  • Problems with Traditional Glossary Management System
  • Advantages of new glossary management technologies
  • Demonstration of Controlled English checker tool and a live-rewrite.
